Event Information – 2013 MS Tool ID CDE

The Florida FFA Middle School Tool Identification Career Development Event (CDE) will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the FFA Leadership Training Center (LTC) in Haines City.
 
Online Registration for this event is currently open and will close November 26 at 5:00 pm.  Once the registration system closes, it is likely that no further registrations will be accommodated.  Please keep in mind that online registration is required and will only be made available to those chapters who have submitted the membership information, dues and Quality Chapter Plan.  If your chapter is not listed on the registration system, please check to see that your membership information, dues and Quality Chapter Plan have been submitted.  
 
Onsite Registration will begin at 10:00 am with the event starting at 11:00 am.  Event rules can be found at www.flaffa.org.
 
While Florida FFA reserves the right to use tool photos/powerpoint, efforts will be made to use actual tools when available.

FFA Members Compete in State Ornamental Horticulture CDE

Florida FFA is pleased to announce the results of the 2013 State Ornamental Horticulture Career Development Event (CDE).  The event was held April 26, 2013 at the University of Florida in Gainesville. 102 teams and individuals from throughout Florida gathered to compete for the top spot. The purpose of the OrnamentalHorticulture event is to stimulate careful planning, thorough knowledge and the ability to explain, by work and action, the “how and why” of various horticulture practices. Florida FFA is very appreciative of the support of our event coordinator Dr. Ed Osborne, as well as the students, faculty and staff of the University of Florida Agricultural Education and Communication department.

Top 10 Ag. Education CDE Finalists Advance

Florida FFA is pleased to announce the results of the 2013 State Agricultural Education Preliminary CDE.  The event was held April 26, 2013 at the University of Florida in Gainesville.  Twenty (20) students/chapters from throughout Florida gathered to compete for the top ten spots in this innagural event.  The top ten participants will advance to compete for the state championship in June.  The purpose of the Agricultural Education Career Development Event is to provide individuals with basic skills necessary for a career as an agricultural educator. Teaching agriculture involves teaching students about applications of science, management, leadership, and technology in the food, fiber, natural resource industry. Teaching methods emphasize hands on approaches where application of skills and knowledge is central to lesson presentations. Agricultural Education strives to make learning enjoyable, meaningful and lasting. Agriculture Education incorporates classroom and laboratory instruction, supervised agricultural experiences (SAE), and the FFA to allow for the personal development of students both inside and outside the classroom to better prepare them for success in life.

Florida FFA is very appreciative of the support of Dr. Grady Roberts,  Ms. Amy McAllister and the faculty and staff of the University of Florida Agricultural Education and Communication Department for their support and coordination of this event.

North Marion Wins 2013 State Horse CDE

Florida FFA is excited to announce the results of the 2013 High School State Horse Career Development Event (CDE).  13 teams who qualified at the Florida State Fair earlier this year competed for the state championship.  FFA members evaluated eight classes and gave four sets of oral reasons on various breeds.
